Jim was named MVP in football, wrestling and track during his senior year. He totaled 1040 yards as a running back in football and was named to the all-county squad. As a wrestler, Jim was champion of his weight class of the North Highland, Louisville and Carrollton Tournaments and was the individual Sectional Champion in 1969.

Jim was also a member of Beaver Local’s first Sectional Championship team. He went on to qualify for the district tournament during his sophomore, junior and senior years. As a senior, his record was 26-1 as team captain. Jim was also a member of the track team where he set school records in four events and county records in two events.
