Year: 1984-85

In football, Doug was named the Team Most Valuable Player, was selected as first team quarterback on the All Columbiana County Team and honored as the Evening Review’s Football Player of the Year in 1984. He led the Ohio All-Stars to their first ever victory over the Pennsylvania squad in the midsummer Penn-Ohio Football Classic.

Doug holds the Beaver Local records for the most passing yards in a single season (1,649), most passing yards in a single game (313), most completions in a season (129) and the longest touchdown pass – 89 yards.

Doug played baseball for four years and was named to the All County Team as a catcher. He holds the county record for throwing out potential base stealers in a season – 16 runners.

Doug played basketball for three years and led the team in offensive assists his senior year.

Doug attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania on a full football scholarship where he played varsity collegiate varsity football for two years. He was awarded an academic scholarship to attend Kent State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree. He holds a Masters Degree from John Carroll University.

Doug is currently an educator with the Canfield Local Schools. He married to Jennifer, also an educator, and they have four sons, Andre, Jake, Will and Max, and one daughter, Elle.
