Chad began his wrestling career in first grade as a Beaver mite. At BLMS, Chad went undefeated with a 36-0 record.

While at BLHS, Chad’s athletic career as a wrestler included being a two-time Sectional Champion, two-time District Champion and three-time State Qualifier placing third in 1995 at the Ohio Div. II State Tournament at 135 pound weight class. Chad also achieved the titles of EOWL Champion along with OVAC Champion his senior year. He was selected All Area first team four times.

In 1994, Chad was chosen along with 17 other wrestlers to represent the State of Ohio on a 21 day cultural exchange wrestling tour known as the Ohio All-Star Wrestling Team. Wrestlers were selected on the basis of scholastic, athletic and civic accomplishments. It was only the second sanctioned Junior wrestling team in 20 years to represent Ohio on an overseas exchange tour. They traveled to Australia and New Zealand.

Chad finished his wrestling career with 119 wins after missing 15 matches his senior year with a knee injury. He was instrumental in setting a high standard of team success as a wrestler and a coach at BL where he was a member of the coaching staff for five years. Chad was a part of over twenty team titles and championships in his career.
