Robert Shannon Jr. is the son of Robert Shannon Sr and the late Becky Sue Shannon who passed away from cancer when he was just 9. He soon had another mother figure in his life, Connie Green. Robert has 2 sisters, Jena and Sera. Family, friends, teachers & coaches helped Robert develop into a disciplined student athlete and a compassionate young man.

Robert earned varsity letters in Basketball and Football, but his passion has always been Baseball since he was a young child and has loved the game for 18 years. During a summer league tournament when he was 13 years old, he was invited to play in the Youngstown “B” league and began traveling both winters and summers from E Liverpool to Youngstown where he honed his craft. Playing for the Astro Falcons from the “B” league, Robert was soon recognized by many collegiate scouts. His skill and dedication to the sport helped bring Beaver Local Baseball some of their most successful years where he was a 4-year letterman.

Robert led his teams to the Sectional Championship game his sophomore year and junior years with close losses. During his senior year, he anchored the team to a dramatic Sectional semi-final game win pitching the entire game and hitting a game tying double in the 7th. The Beavers then advanced to the Sectional Championship game were his performance was one for the ages. Robert threw a No Hitter against the reigning OVAC champions allowing just one ball to reach beyond the infield and striking out 13 batters. The team ended their season as District Runners-Up and set the best school record in team history. Robert’s hard work earned him a Division I scholarship to the University of Miami in Oxford OH were he pitched against many of the top teams in the nation.

His awards and remarkable stats speak for themselves. Robert had 13 lifetime homeruns along with 70 RBIs. He was awarded 1st Team All-Conference in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005; 1st Team Steel Valley; and OVAC All Star Team in 2005. His pitching stats rival the best of the area with a Lifetime 23-6 record, 184 innings, 276 strikeouts allowing just 120 hits and 77 walks. Impressively, he maintained a 1.29 ERA for his HS career. 2011 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE!!!
